Jewellery Care

Please note that each product is hand made by Stavros Constantinou and therefore is unique. Slight variations in form and material are part of the unique character of the work. Caring properly for your jewellery is essential to ensuring its longevity and helps to avoid unnecessary repairs.

We generally recommend using a silver polishing cloth once a month to wipe the surface of your jewellery with gentle pressure to help prevent any tarnish and also to cleanse the metal of skin, perfume, food or other “outside” particles. These polishing cloths are made of soft cotton and impregnated with a specific cleaning solution; Selvyt is a good brand that is used in-house.

We would discourage using commercial liquid polish or “dips” on your jewellery, as these can sometimes be too abrasive and, when used too liberally, can also remove any deliberate oxidisation detail. Clean regularly with a soft sable brush, liquid soap and warm water to avoid any build up of dirt and keep the stones looking lustrous.

Tips for General Jewellery Care

• Remove your jewellery before engaging in practical activities. This will ensure that your jewellery does not get accidentally damaged.
• Beauty products for skin and hair can react with precious stones and metals, causing your jewellery to tarnish, discolour and even possibly corrode. Please put your jewellery on last, after applying any cosmetics, scents and sprays.
• When storing your jewellery, we recommend doing so in airtight boxes or bags. Exposure to the environment can cause your silver jewellery to tarnish over time. Storing it sensibly will keep it looking newer for longer.
• Do not store your jewellery in damp or humid conditions as this causes tarnishing and a damp environment attracts dust to stick and settle in the hard-to-clean areas.

Please note on yellow and rose gold vermeil jewellery it is essential to follow the above guidelines to avoid excessive wear and tear on the plating. However if you do require replating or for any other assistance please contact info@stavrosconstantinou.com.
